I wrote about my SO's father coming to the house on Sundays and how much it annoyed us in a previous post. I'm happy to update that my SO stood up for me and agreed it was beginning to get out of hand. I am usually respectful and so is he but we were at our wits end on Friday night!

My SO had purchased his dad a flight for a week just to give us some time to ourselves lol Now he has come back to town and the first thing he wanted to do was come to the house.

This wouldn't have been a problem but my brother and sister were in town (they were supposed to be gone Friday but had missed their flight) , my SO was smoking ribs and brisket for his dad and uncles father's day dinner, and we had both worked 10 hrs at work so we weren't up for more company! There was a lot going on. We were socially exhausted! So his dad called and says he's going to come over and "help" grill. He came over and let my SO do ALL the work while he drank and critiqued everything he did. My SO was slowly boiling. And we found out later his dad never planned on helping cause he felt my SO should do all the work cause he's his son. Wtf??

After I made dinner for my siblings, I went out to the deck to sit with them. His dad immediately started telling us we needed to clean the kitchen up and do better cause we had company and thay my SO wasn't raised that way. At that moment I was PISSED! We were cookie big meal for him!!!! Plus he hadn't even raised my SO... which also pissed off my SO. How dare he say those things!?

Before I left for work I had made a huge pan of Mac and cheese and didn't have time to clean up. In addition I had company beyond the time I had prepared for plus I had just walked in from work... when would I have had time to clean? My SO was at work too and prepping to cook as soon as he walked in the door. Mind you this was about 1030 at night... So it was frustrating that he said what he did plus was at the house late at night too. We had planned to put the smokers on then set alarms to check it throughout the night but instead we were forced to sit up and entertain his dad. (My siblings went to our movie room to hang out and get out of the way).

I'm so proud of my man he let his dad have it and told him if he had a problem with dishes being in the sink then he could leave. He told him "he didn't have to be any where, where he didn't feel comfortable and that he supported me and my efforts to keep a clean house" (I normally clean every single day but with everything going on it was hard to.) He even high fived me and gave me a "go team" (that's our thing lol). I felt supported and appreciated by my man. It definitely put his dad in his place. I was happy cause I was about to lay into his dad but he took the reigns and did it on his own. I'm so proud of him for standing up to his dad.
