Is this normal?

IV been off BC since August. This month my period is very heavy and bright red. Every time I wipe I have about 8-10 clots on the napkin should I be concerned?

When I was on birth control my periods hardly lightened. If anything my first day was heavier than normal and I had a ton of clots. They started small but at one point I was in tears on the phone with my mom because I thought I was possible having a misscarriage. (She's been a paramedic for 20 years) I immediately stopped taking it and talked to my doctor. She said it could take 3-6 months for my body to regulate. I stopped taking it all together after that. I just had a bad experience with bc. Mood swings, tired, heavy periods, cramps worse than before. My boyfriend and I aren't ttc but the only thing we're doing to prevent it is pulling out. We are ready for kids just not planning a baby yet.

You should go to the doctor to be on the safe side.That sounds like alot of clots but everyone's different.
