Bottle Feeding Breastmilk
Okay ladies - I have some serious questions when it comes to breast feeding from a bottle.
I'm a FTM and my baby is just over a week old. He's taken to breast feeding like a champ, but to be honest, it's wearing me out. He's up nearly every hour to two hours to eat and I'm getting 0 sleep. By the time I feed him, burp him, and soothe him back to sleep, it's time to start the cycle all over again. My husband wants to help with feedings but...we all know that can't happen. Haha. I got the BF Kiinde system to use for when I go back to work, and I've already pumped a few bags. My supply seems to be plentiful and I have no trouble getting 5-6 oz of milk pumped from each breast after LO has eaten.
So my question is...is it a really awful idea to start pumping and bottle feeding occasionally? I guess ideally I'd like to bottle and breast feed. However, every time I ask (pediatrician, lactation consultant, nurses) they always say "oh I wouldn't do that if I were you!" But I have to do it sometime as I'm going back to work in a few months and want to continue BF. What are you guys' experiences with bottle feeding? Did it work for you? Did your LO still latch on to you easily and did your supply take a hit at all? Just trying to keep my sanity while sill offering the best nutrition I can give to my little guy.
