How to start with birth control?

I've been doing a lot of research about contraception and everywhere website tells me a different thing. I use condoms usually but it broke once and since then I've been scared so I'm thinking about birth control as its a lot more safer ( as the website says) but I'm very confused with when should I start? How? Do I just take the pill after having sex? Once I start do I have to take it for the rest of my life non stop? I don't speak to my parents about these things and I would love if one of u girlies could help me out? Ik we all been there so we here to help each other☺️
