Help I'm not sure what to think

I am 4 days late and have no sign of my period. My boobs are sore and I'm getting acne. I took a first response this morning and it turned out negative. Could I still be pregnant or has anyone ever gotten a negative then a positive a few days later? How many days were you late before you get a positive test?
