Natural Alternatives to Ibuprofen

Carianne • I'm a pink-haired, lesbian witch, here to track my period, give advice and get advice.
If you're like me, I try to avoid ibuprofen as often as possible. Sometimes the cramps get so bad that I give in, even though I often find that it doesn't always work for me. There are also plenty of risks to ibuprofen, as with anything. So, I'd like to share my favorite herbal remedies to combat cramping and other PMS symptoms. All of these are great even when you aren't on your period, so research all the benefits if you're interested. (Plus, they're all great-tasting!)
Ginger is go-to for anything related to my digestion. It helps things work more smoothly, so if you're having any nauseous feelings, diarrhea, or you just ate too much junk food (we've all been there), I highly recommend it.
Chamomile is one of my all-time favorite herbs! I drink it quite often, and you should too. When I'm cramping, I drink chamomile to soothe my cranky uterus and to ease my headaches. I find it works wonders!
I've also heard that peppermint and raspberry leaf are both wonderful for PMS, as well, but I have yet to try either. I find that herbal remedies are best taken in the form of hot tea. Please let me know you're favorite herbs and teas for comfort when you're on your period, and always remember to ask your doctor before using herbs in any way if you are pregnant or trying to conceive.
Also, don't feel bad if you use ibuprofen! Most people do, and it's no wonder-- modern medicine is a great thing. I recommend drinking plenty of water before and after taking ibuprofen, always.
