Should I be waking my baby at night for feeding?
Hi! Before I go on, please no judgement... I'm posting this because I'm just not sure what the right thing is for my baby.
My baby is 10 weeks old. She is a great sleeper! She has been sleeping thru the night (at least 6 hour stretches) for about three weeks. I know that I am lucky in terms of getting sleep as a new parent.
But, as I am breastfeeding, I am concerned. My baby is growing, but slowly. She is only about 1.5 sounds over her birth weight. She did get a slow start because we were in the hospital for a week after she was born - she was on a lot of antibiotics etc.
We have started to supplement with formula - giving about 2 oz after a fees to make sure she is getting enough . Our dr. Suggested that and I'm glad she did - baby typically takes all of that. She feeds a lot thru the day, on average every 2.5 hours.
Should I be waking my Baby at night to feed her? I just tried and she fought me tooth and nail - no desire whatsoever to eat. Should I just let her sleep and pump at night to increase my supply (which is suffering I believe due to these long overnight stretches)
I just really didn't think I had to do that, but I'm reconsidering it due to her smaller size and my lower breast milk supply.
I should add she is happy and developing totally normally other than her Smaller than average size. My dr wasn't worried about it.
