Labor & delivery class?

Question

My mom says I NEED to take that class; what are you girls opinions? 
I want to take it but I'm getting close to my due date and don't wanna pay for it then go into labor and not be able to go 🤔

I found it very helpful. Perhaps ask the hospital if the refund your money if you happen to deliver before the class

Usually they will refund you if you deliver before the class.  I signed up for a class, then the instructor cancelled due to illness, the hospital sent me a video to watch from home instead, it ended up being more convenient. So you can check out videos online if you want the info but don't want the class. They basically explained things like when its time to head to the hospital during labor, why the IV is required, why they won't let you eat during labor, pain relief options, c section recovery, stuff like that. So it can be helpful but I don't think it's an absolute must. Don't watch an actual birth, I watched one after I gave birth and it freaked me out even though it was already over for me lol

You don't NEED it, but it was nice to go and get all of the information from my hospital. I learned what they do specifically at that hospital and what they aren't able to do. We had 4 classes and we went over breastfeeding, swaddling, and extras. It was nice to have done it once. I won't do it this time around.

My husband and I both found the class to be very informative and helpful. We learned a lot. It's totally up to you but I would recommend it if you are someone who wants to have an idea of what to expect.

I'm not doing it. Im a FTM, but I raised my sister for the first year or so from delivery on. So baby aspect I have already, and as an herbalist I can easily teach my husband what he needs to know.

As for labor, I've YouTubed several videos and just pieced it together. From what I've seen and read your body will do it all for you if you just stay relaxed and hydrated before and during.

They will probably teach you breathing techniques (there's several different kinds of laboring classes/techniques) and why they want to do all that they try to do to you.

I'm too hard headed to put up with much, my doc already knows that I'm drinking herbal pretty much the whole way through and has a pretty good idea of how stubborn I am. 😂😂
It's up to you what you do. Like I said, I YouTubed everything. That's free and can be done in PJ's....

If you want to have a natural delivery do it. If you are planing to have epideral I would not do it. This will be my fourth baby and I'm saying this from my experience.

I didn't take classes for my last pregnancy cuz life was too chaotic and I was fine. I had amazing nurses that told me kinda what to do when I asked (mostly the pushing part... I didn't know if I was doing it right)
But other than that... it wasn't bad. :)
