When should you stop breastfeeding ?

I live with my sister in law and she's  breastfeeding her daughter that's about To turn 2 yrs old in a couple days , and I can't help but to look at them funny . I just feel like she's so big to be hanging off her mom 😒😒
What do you girls think ?

It actually bothers me and makes me uncomfortable. To each their own, but I don't like it. I stopped breastfeeding my older 2 at 10 and 11 months.

I think it's completely normal. Nobody really seems to care if a 2 year old still has a paci, but don't realize that for most kids by the age of 2 it's more of a comfort thing. And the benefits from breastfeeding don't suddenly stop once they get "too old" in someone else's eyes. It's still really beneficial, and can help them with fighting off common illnesses that kids frequently catch!

I feel when the child stops showing interest it's time to wean. If the child still breast feeds at night or in the morning for comfort then that's okay. But at 2 I feel like it should only be once or twice a day.

The comfort level is up to you. My daughter was naturally weaned by age 1. She did it all on her own with very little help from me.

I personally couldn't go longer than 12 months, but to each their own. My SIL was still breastfeeding by age 2. After age 2 it's gets iffy for me, but for comfort feedings at night or early morning before age 2 is ok.

I was told by a lactation consultant that they actually recommend breast feeding till 2 years old now. you don't necessarily have to feed them from your breast. you could pump and put it in a cup or aomething. but I'm not to that point yet so I don't know when I will stop...

I don't see an issue with it.. The WHO actually suggest breastfeeding until 2..  I'll breastfeed as long as my son wants.. My husband did until 3 but that's pretty typical for his culture.. To each their own but ill go as long as possible with mine..

Its actually beneficial to a childs health to be breastfed up until 2 years old and personal choice for mum and baby. I couldnt breastfeed that long personally but understand why someone would. I breastfed my daughter for 8 months and then she started getting teeth haha

I plan to breastfeed my son until he weans himself. Let him be 2 and still want mamas milk, I'll gladly give it to him. A woman at my church has 8 kids that were all breastfed and even as she feeds the 1 yr old her 4 yr old will come eye down her breasts and ask if she can have a drink.

I think that's an ignorant comment to make. You should be supporting your sister, especially because she's doing the best and healthiest thing for her baby and for herself. Please read up on breastfeeding, and the World Health Organizations recommendation of nursing for TWO years, and after that as long as mutually desired. Breastfeeding never loses its benefits or nutrients. If it bothers you that she's being an excellent mother and giving her child what they need, simply look away.
