Heavy spotting after an IUD?

Ok so I got the Mirana like last week and had to be on my period to get it put in... But now I'm spotting pretty heavily... And I just got a new boyfriend.. (I'm really shy when it comes to stuff like this) and so I keep turning down the sex and when he asks why I don't know what to say because I don't want to discuss with him so two questions... Is it normal to spot heavily after getting the Mirana (IUD) and what should I tell him?!😭

I had the same thing going on when I was dating. You can mention it, be honest. I was, no one had a problem with it. I think they just care more about having sex than alittle blood. U can do it in the shower if it's too messy.

I agree-it is definitely normal, especially this soon after placement. Your bleeding cans be irregular and (at least for me) kind of constant for the first 3-6 months. I was nervous to talk to my boyfriend about what was happening with me because he is the first guy I've had a relationship and been physical with. I had to just be honest. It was easier to let him know about my discomfort/embarrassment. Sometimes we put a towel down and kept wipes next to the bed. Sometimes we just made out-he let me decide what I felt up for.  I hope it reassures you to hear that he was both 100% okay with some bleeding (way more than I was!) and so sweet and thankful that I was dealing with this for the both of us so that we can be intimate. I have a feeling your guy will not really mind-he's into you and I'm sure he's just excited to be enjoying the physical stuff!
