Is it appropriate to hand make your own wedding invitations?

Kae
My fiancé and I are on a wedding budget. And so far, we've priced all the wedding invitations well above $250! I REFUSE to spend that much money on some paper that will most likely end up in the trash! So being that I'm crafty I think we should hand make them. I did a trial run and I kind of like it but feel it's a bit kid-like. What do you guys think of it? Need some help or ideas. (I crossed out our last names) should we just pay the $250 bucks or take a leap of faith and do something different?

We made our own! Only spent $70! Got the paper from Michaels, and put them all together one night with a few friends! They even looked like hogwarts letters! :) definitely cheaper! And I promise you, nobody will remember what they looked like! You do you, and congratulations!!

My husband and I made our own invites, RSVPs and thank you cards, we went to a craft store and spent MAYBE $75 on crafts. We saved a TON of money and got a lot of compliments!

Try vistaprint.  That's where I got mine from and the more you buy the cheaper they are.

I bought mine from Michael's and my sister and I printed them ourselves. Spent maybe $30 total on the invitations and extra ribbon. If your friends and/or family judge you based on the quality of your invitations then they shouldn't be invited anyway!

Honestly, I would pay the money to have them made. Like you said, those look a bit kid like. Not really elegant or extravagant like an actual wedding invitation. I don't know that I'd pay $250, is there any that are cheaper that look nice? (I've never had a wedding, so I wouldn't know. Lol)

all the online places we looked at were like a $1 per card and we're expecting more than 200 guests. we might just have to give in and pay that 250

I bought an awesome template from etsy and had them professionally printed on thick card - they looked awesome and only cost $ 50

They also have kits you can buy at Michael's Craft store and I'm sure other craft stores and online as well. I looked at them for my wedding and Michael's always has 40% off coupons too. Just another option!

that's how I did my wedding invites and the rsvps and they were really nice and a lot cheaper than having someone else do it.

Hey Kae, the ones a micheal usually have a disc in them that you put on your computer, type what you want and how you want it to look. and you can print them off on the card it comes with. it's really easy and wayyyy cheaper.

I saw those. but they didn't have instructions on how to use those. I'll Google more about those

I did mine myself and everyone said they looked very unique and expensive.. Put some ribbons or that golden glitter paper  wrapped around it.. So u can slide rsvp or driving direction cards in there.. I saved a lot!

I think hand made is fine.if you're truly worried about it, I know David's bridal does wedding invites that are nice and still pretty cheap though to be honest, it's been like 3 years so I don't remember exact prices ....

The wording looks good, I think the heart makes them look kid like.
