Has anyone had a sweep at 38-39 weeks that was successful?

I'm booked in for a sweep on Monday and was wondering how it worked for other mom's who have also had one and if it hurt etc..... I'm a first time mom so it's all new to me!! Any information would be appreciated!

I had mine done at 39 weeks. It didn't hurt really but I felt so much pressure because the baby's head was so low that I peed on my OB. I delivered the next day.

Depends on the Doctor who does it. With my second, they done it during three visits. My female doc done it the first two times then the male doc done it the final time. With the female, a lil discomfort but nothing bad at all. With the male, he really worked something loose. I started having regular contractions within the hour. Was at the hospital within 2 hours and had dialated an addition 2 cm. don't expect anything major to happen. It really just depends on how aggressive it's done and how ready baby is to come. Good luck and hopefully your baby isn't quite as big as they expect. They guessed mine to be around 8 lbs the second time around, she was 9 and a half pounds.

I'm going to a massage therapist. She will rub my ankles and a pressure point in my neck really hard for 1.5 hours. She said the longest it's been before someone went into labor after her doing this is 12hours!

My midwife told me that generally they don't work the first time on first time moms. She usually does a few in a row combined with other alternative therapies to get things rolling. My friend had to have one done on the friday, monday, tuesday, and then wednesday she finally went into labour. I have one on Monday, and then she recommended going to induction acupuncture as well, so I'll be doing that after my appointment with her, and coming back every morning until labour begins.

I had two by the midwife at home and neither worked. 3rd one at hospital was brutal and worked straight away!

Just had one 37 weeks it was done without my knowledge and painful and did absolutely nothing other than piss off my daughter and hurt me 😡
