Why isn't my doctor more involved?

Question

My doctor started me on Clomid, which I took starting cd5 like she said. But all she told me to do after that is take a pregnancy test if Aunt Flo doesn't come and make an appointment for cd35, pregnant, period, or nothing. I see other people talking about ultrasounds and bloodwork during the first round of Clomid. Why would she not schedule these things?

My OB prescribed me Clomid for 3 months. When that failed, she referred us to a specialist. They are the ones that put you on a more specific treatment plan and monitor you more closely (i.e. ultrasounds). We are on our 2nd round of IUI.

my obgyn wasnt too involved the first round either. once it didnt work my first two cycles, he then became "more involved." my guess is they wanna see if it'll get your pregnant first alone and if it fails, they begin closely monitoring. monitoring can be costly as well even with insurance. but you can request they monitor you, I'm sure tho! or do what I did and go further, and find an RE who specializes in infertility.

I guess it depends. My OB has been super involved. Before started clomid she did a vaginal ultrasound to check everything there then we started clomid. Each month she does a cd12 check to check follicles. On round3 check(cd12) she told me if unsuccessful then I would do the hsg check and gave me a referral that day said after the check we will began clomid again. At first I thought she sucked because most said they had levels checked to make sure they ovulate etc. but every doctor is different. I think it definitely doesn't hurt to ask questions if they don't agree maybe see someone else and go from there.

I went to reg obgyn for 3 rounds of Clomid and she didn't check anything either dissappointed me I didn't end up pregnant so I'm not sure if even worked I'm now seeing a fertility specialist and I'm on letrozole and steroids n they are monitoring close.

Mine isn't like that either. I've had a lot of blood tests ran but not ultrasounds. My oby thinks I wasn't ovulating because I am borderline diabetic & have slight PCOS.

It just depends on the practice. My OBGYN wasn't super involved. We knew I didn't ovulate at all, so she gave me clomid and checked progesterone on CD21. Out of 4 cycles, I only ovulated once according to opks and progesterone. So she sent me to a specialist who gave me clomid and did ultra sounds every 4 days. This time I ovulated and we did an IUI. Currently in TWW.

Some don't do more extensive testing because not everyone's insurance covers it. So they only do what is necessary.

I was seeing My OB and was having the same problem and my first cycle of clomid failed. I am now going to our first fertility appointment on Monday, so we are able to be closely monitored.

Idk. Your doctor should be checking the lining of your uterus and follicle count.
