Catnip and Fennel extract (for colic/gas)?

Have any moms had experience with using catnip and fennel extract for gas issues in their babies? I was using gripe water, and now more recently mylicon, but after reading more about them, they have lots of chemicals and preservatives. Catnip/fennel is an alternative natural remedy but I feel strange giving my baby catnip! 😼😹
