Who is the selfish one???

Okay so my husband and I had a huge fight about the next weekend (4th of July)... His family wants to go to his grandmas lake house and I unfortunately have to work Saturday and Monday morning... I told him we could go Saturday after I get off work and go home Sunday night (2 hr drive) and he said No it's just a waste of gas I'll just stay at home and sit in my recliner all weekend long... Well about an hour into the argument (him spending more time with anyone but me or on his XBox) he got pissed and told me he is going to the lake for the whole weekend without me... We just moved here so I don't know many people so he's my only friend right now... :( Well I asked if I should come there after work and he said it would be a waste of gas...

So am I really being that selfish for him wanting to spend time with me and not let me sit at home by myself or is he selfish for going even tho I can't go???

Thank you if you made it this far through my ramble but I'm pretty upset right now...

EDIT: It's not that he barely spends time with his family his parents are living with us right now so if i have a long day at work he spends more time with them anyway...

It really would be a waste of gas for you to only be there for literally a handful of hours. I wouldn't call anyone *selfish*, but if I was, I would call you the selfish one. It's okay to spend time apart from your spouse. Very healthy. It's only a weekend. You can have the whole weekend to do whatever you want.

He sounds really selfish. Idk why he wouldn't just wait, or say come after work. You're not asking for much! He should want to spend time with you and his family not just them.

Isn't it the same amount of gas if he goes on his own? What's the big deal of waiting til you got out of work? You'd still be using the same amount to get there and back. The only thing that changes is the amount of time you spend at lake house... He's being selfish.

Let him go and u can meet him up there after work since you'd have to leave on Sunday cause of work.. That way you still get to spend some time with him even if it's not alone. It's 4th of July weekend. Do you really want him to stay at home doing nothing while u work when he can be enjoying the company of his family at the lake? At least you know where and who he'll be with.

Let him go. Jesus, why does he have to sit around on his ass just because you can't go. Have some independence. Go see a movie, take yourself to a painting class, get drunk alone and sing/scream to high school favorite songs.

He is being selfish. I'm sorry but you guys are married sacrifices are suppose to be made. He is acting like a child. But honestly if I have to force him to hang out with me, I don't think I'd want him there. It's not like you don't want to go you have to work.

You are both thinking of your own interests but you both need to compromise a little. He is right to want to go and you are also right to want him to wait for you to finish work. Compromise and either let him go and you join him with his family when ur done work go by meeting him there. Or let him go and you stay local and do your own thing. Sometimes space and little get always are good apart from each other. Missing one another is good and healthy to make ur relationship stronger.

I think you both need to compromise and do what you suggested - go up Saturday afternoon and come back Sunday night.

It is selfish of you to want to keep him from his family, though.
