Is this a dumb Christmas gift idea?

Question

My boyfriend knows I'm tight on money so he doesn't expect anything big or expensive. But my idea is getting him the "dollar shave club" (look it up if you don't know what that is) and maybe something little like favorite candy with it. He has always talked about wanting to do the dollar shave club but hasn't gotten to it, that's why I think he'd like it.
So I want to sign him up for it, but have it mailed to my house the first month so I can wrap it up and give it to him for Xmas, but then id change it to his address after that, if I can, not sure if I can! Then I'd continue to pay for it each month. So I think it's kinda cool he'd still be getting my present over time and it's useful!
Today I told my sister this idea and she thought it was weird and it's making me second guess it!
She said I should just make something, but I don't know what.

Is my idea a dumb idea though?! Be honest! Haha if you think it's dumb do you have any ideas of what I could make? Or something inexpensive?

I think it's cute. One year I made my husband (he was my bf at the time) little coupons for things I would do for him, that he could redeem at any time, or some on weekends, or when he'd had a bad day, etc.
