Do you believe racism still exists?

I personally believe it is still very actively around. But I know others believe it doesn't exist. Explain why or why you don't think it exists.

All you have to do is take a look at the Glow community. Plenty of evidence of Racism (the systemic oppression of POC only) and racism (the unfortunately common occurrences of racial prejudice and discrimination that happen to all races that [most] white people mistakenly think is the 'only' kind of Racism).

Big time. My husband is black and im mixed with black and white. I went to his grandmas house for a reunion and was the only white girl their. They were asking him "why are u with a white girl" and making jokes against me the whole time. Once when I got up to leave the room several adults said : while youre up can you bring me  whatever it was they were asking for. As I walked away someone said "karma" and another said "restitution" implying that I now was their slave.......

You can see it is evident from the rally in California that happened today, where a fight broke out between two groups, one allegedly a "white nationalist" group, the other of counter-protestors. 10 people are in the hospital with stab wounds.

Yup. People are racist against every color out there. Some people are racist towards their own race which I find odd but I've heard it before.

Oh hell yes it does. I see it all the time and not only to certain colors of skin but to different nationalities, religion, etc.

I think racism is still an issue because so many people are afraid of the issue. So many people are afraid of being racist and of course there are people who actually are racist. Honestly if everyone just treated skin colour like we treat hair colour or eye colour then it'd stop. I like having brown hair and green eyes and I also like being white- but that's because I like myself. If I was black I'd be perfectly happy too. I lived overseas and went to an international school (so was a minority there actually) and we called a spade a spade. When describing someone you'd say they were white or black or brown and if someone was purple we'd say they were purple- of course we described them using hair, height and other characteristics. But for us skin colour was just a characteristic of a person. And when someone tries tip-toeing around your skin colour people would just get upset. I had a friend from South Africa that would get really upset if you seemed afraid you her skin colour. She'd just say things like 'I'm black. What's the big deal? I'm proud to be black I'm not ashamed of it and you shouldn't be afraid of that'. The school had bullying issues and all that but racism was not an issue. Skin colour was just that skin colour. So I think if people just stopped worrying about it and could just be happy with what they looked like and not worry about what others look like then hopefully racism would disappear. If we keep making it an issue it'll stay an issue and if people are afraid of calling someone black or brown or pink or white then it perpetuates the issue because it makes not being white something to be embarrassed about. Which it's not. Be proud of who you are and be proud of what you look like- everything from your skin colour to your height to your hair to your weight.

Ive been told to go back to Africa (even though ive never been but would love to visit) every time i go to the store, i get followed. I always say something when this happens so it always leave me to shop in peace. When i walk pass a car and someone is in it....i hear the doors lock. So alive and well. Racism is the big brother of prejudice

Yes but not just white and black! In all colors! It's probably never going to fully end! I definantly see it getting a lot better though.

Yes it exists. I'm in an interracial relationship in the south so I've seen racism in action.
