Trimming IUD Strings?

Murray
I've had the Skyla IUD (Mirena's baby sister) for a year now, and while it's greatly reduced my bleeding volume (I bleed less in 12 days now -- as mine last 12 days, than I used to in an hour), the strings irritate my cervix. If I have sex, I bleed. Every time. I have been diagnosed with a "friable cervix," even a q-tip during a gyno exam can cause me to bleed, and I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (genetic connective tissue disorder similar to Marfan's), which can cause skin fragility. The IUD has been helpful, as I've tried almost every birth control, & I used to have massive hemorrhaging for 21 days straight. I know I'm really unlucky, and clearly these issues are unfortunately my "normal," but has ANYONE had issues with bleeding/irritation from the strings like I have & had their IUD strings trimmed? Did it help?
