How many sets of clothes would people say to buy for the first 12 months of having a baby?

What do you all think? Because I'd personally want to have so many sets for each size of my growing child, but not sure how many. Obviously they'll grow out of them but I'm happy to also sell the clothing I don't need anymore. I'm a first time mummy to be so any info would be wonderful! 😘

There's no way to really tell. In my opinion it's one of those things where you have to wait and see, because you never know exactly how big or small your baby will be. They grow fast and sometimes skip sizes, so personally I would buy a limited amounts in various sizes. It's common to receive a ton a clothes at baby showers, so I would wait until after then. My daughter had a lot of clothes she didn't get to wear because she was big (basically skipped newborn) and had so many.

I think the best thing for me is buying a few outfits for each age as I go. People will gift you clothes, seasons change and babies, once weaning stain everything!

We've just kind of been playing it by ear. A lot of people will buy clothes for your shower and then again once the baby is here. We bought some basics (onesies, sleepers) in newborn and 0-3 mo size and maybe a cute outfit for each before she was born. Now that she's here, if we feel like she needs more onesies or something we'll just go buy it. But we aren't really buying beyond her current size unless we find things on a really good sale because you never know how fast/slow they'll grow. We actually got a ton of unworn stuff from my cousin because she bought clothes based on size and season (so 3-6 month summer stuff because her daughter would be that age in the summer) but her daughter was so small by the time she fit into it it was too cool out. We have things in bigger sizes but they were all gifts.

I have not purchased any clothes so far, nor did I have baby shower, and I already have too many! Baby clothes are are extremely popular gift. I recommend not preparing for this one. Newborns spend hardly any time dressed up anyway.
