When to tell family/friends

Question

My husband and I agreed to not tell parents til 13 weeks. Now I'm feeling like it's hard to keep it to myself. We live with his parents and I'm on my moms insurance.

We told parents right away. We are waiting until we know the gender to share on social media though. We felt our inner circle could know sooner. Also I think in general women are opening up more about ttc, pregnancy, miscarriage, etc., so there's less of a reason to keep it hidden. It's up to you I think.

I think if you're living with your parents and on their insurance they have a right to know that you're pregnant.

I don't live with my parents and I told them the day I had a positive HPT. We're very close and I wanted them to share in my happiness and excitement. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage and it meant a lot to me that they went through the experience with me, that I had their love and support, and that I could discuss it with them. I would hate to not be able to share the ups and downs of my pregnancy with my parents.

I told my parents at about 7 weeks. Only 2 other close friends know.
