stop having the pill after sex?

Hello, so today is the last day I see my boyfriend till September/October. We have been dating for 3 years and we had sex yesterday but I want to stop being on the pill during the summer. I just see no point and my gyno said it was okay to stop. But I'm not sure how long after sex can you stop the pill?

If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate !

Answer

Sperm can live inside you for up to 7 days.
If you had sex in the last 7 days, continue taking your pill, then stop the week after the last time you had unprotected sex.

I don't really see the point of stopping for 3 or 4 months, as when you start again you will need to go through the 3 month adjustment again and potentially go through side effects.
Including the fact that when you stop, it can take 3-6 months for everything to regulate again, so you may experience spotting and/or irregular periods.

Like you do you, but if it were me, I'd keep taking it.
