has anyone taken their newborn to a chiropractor? what does it do? is it safe?

Not safe! Research has shown that chiropractic care has no benefit, and may cause further damage in same instances. There is no scientific evidence that a chiropractor can cure colic, reflux, or any other ailment. And a newborn baby just is not in need of an adjustment. Please do your research from science based sources! Chiropractic adjustments have been correlated with stroke in young children. The spine is such a sensitive area that can cause major harm, or even death. Please don't subject a newborn to that!

Chiropractic care is just fine for babies, including newborns. Just make sure that you go to someone who is used to dealing with babies. It can help with lots of issues! Chiropractic care for babies is much gentler and such than that of adults.

I took my baby when he was five days old. And again when he was 2 weeks. First time fixed his latching when breastfeeding and the second time was for his extremely bad reflux which never came back after being adjusted. I know several families that take their children. Newborn and older.

Some people swear by it but being a physiotherapist myself, I wouldn't recommend it. I've heard too many horror stories of babies having strokes and broken necks from the manipulations. Not worth the risk in my professional and mommy opinion. My baby had colic and reflux for months and I refused to take him.

My parents did with me and said it was really good. I had chiropractic care throughout my childhood too and it definitely made a huge difference. Chiropractors will try to tell you that chiropractic care cures all ailments and makes you fart rainbows and butterflies and solves world hunger and I don't think it does as much as they say haha. It really just helps with back and neck problems.

We took our son the day after we got out of the hospital. He sat on my cervix for so long that his c1 was out of alignment just the slightest bit. It was affecting his latch and sleep. We had to take him in regularly but he's doing great now!  I still take him and get him checked and he's 5 months old now. They adjust babies ever so gently. Just make sure you find someone who works on babies.
