I'm an insurance sales rep for state farm...I have been with my office/agent for over 2 years. After a miscarriage last year, I had a heart to heart with my boss just to see if working from home for 4 weeks (2 weeks off for Vaca time) was a possibility because I can't afford to go without pay...he agreed and here we are exactly a year later with baby due in october! Lots of things have changed at the office and he can't afford to pay maternity leave. Ive been...office manager/sales rep/ loan advisor/ cleaning crew...anything i needed to be to help him keep the office going during all the transitions. And he has gave me time off with pay since day one...and never took a penny. So yesterday I asked him if he could just NOT pay me a dime of commissions until January 2017 (first full month back) and with that he would pay me full maternity leave for my 6 weeks. He agreed!!!!!! PLUS told me I could take the rest of 2016 off WITH pay to spend the first holidays with our little girl for all my hard work. I'm just so relieved. My husband and I both. And I seriously couldn't ask for a better boss to work for!
