I used the park for mine and it was great. Kids got to play so no whining..exc. This time we are just doing a potluck at the park for men and women to come visit. Gifts can be left unwrapped on a table. All I have to do is bring plates, soda, cups and silverware.

I think a park is a bad idea because you may have to go early to claim tables and it will be very hard to make it a relaxing day for you since there's no guarantee unless you can rent tables. Friends house is the best option. You can store food in their fridge and cook there if you need to. Also they may allow you to decorate the day before or take down decorations the day after and you'll have someone to help you

My grandmother disapproves but the laid back feel is totally my style and my mother has all summer off so she only makes half of her income ...

What KIND of baby shower do you want.

Restaraunts usually have time limits, can become VERY pricey if you are paying for all the food, and games may not be so simple.  Room may also be limited.

Parks are more casual.  It could be harder to decorate depending on location and weather (my sisters decorations kept being blown away by the wind 😓).  This seems to be common here in CA.  It affords more room for games and is cheaper.  Food has to be coked or catered though.  Most of these areas are first come first serve but there is no time limit.

REC areas can be useful, but keep in mind that good is usually not included in the price. Again, there is usually a time limit.  Again, this is a nice option as it is fancier, they often help with decorations, tables and chairs.  Keep in mind that there may be a lurid rules (what caters are allowed, time limits, etc.).
