Nipple shield weaning?

How do I do this? My son had to be given bottles when he was born because he had low blood sugar. It's made breastfeeding difficult but the nipple shield has really helped. I want to get him off of it though. It would be so much easier. Any suggestions? He is 2 weeks old on Thursday.

I've had to use a shield from day 1 too. Lol I hate the stupid thing but LOOOVE breastfeeding. My baby girl is almost 4 months old, every single day I try at least once to get her to latch without it and sometimes we're successful for a couple minutes, some times she gets pist right away and won't at all. The other day she latched without the shield and ate for 20 minutes!! Our longest time ever! But today she refuses to nurse without it. It just takes time and it can't be forced but just keep trying! Try every day! Haha I'm so looking forward to throwing my nipple shield away!! Good luck!

Just try often to breast feed without the shield. And just keep trying until he gets it.

I waited until about two months. It was natural for us he eventually didn't want the shield anymore.

I would just use it until he doesn't want it. I'm successfully BF 10 months later. It hasn't affected my supply at all

Thank you! I just kind of started doing that and he latches for a few seconds then realizes that's a real nipple and pulls away 😕 I'm going to keep at it though.
