Pool??

Question

At what age will you introduce your little one to a pool?? Of course July 4 is coming up and we will be at a family cookout where there will be a pool (it is heated which is a plus!), but my little guy is only 4 weeks as of today so im torn- I know everyone will try to get him in!

We are in the same situation. Mine is 5 weeks old, I called my pedi and asked. I was told no sunscreen until 6 months, keep them in the shade with a hat on. A rash guard is best; to help deter the sun. No deep water but shallow water is fine for short periods of time. Babies are not good at regulating their temperature at this age so just keep an eye out on their temperature.

We put our first in swim lessons at 6 months, but I'm pretty sure he was in the pool by 4. He was also a winter baby so we didn't have access to one any sooner. With this one I'm sure he will be in the pool over the next couple months. I wouldn't think anything would be wrong with 4-6 weeks introducing him to the pool as long as it's not too cold.
