Should toddlers be allowed to be on cell phones constantly?

What do you think? My neice is two and a half and my sister, who is twenty-three, thinks it's sooo cool that she can open the camera, check the weather, etc. on her phone. She always posts pictures with her daughter on the cell phone saying "always playing on a phone ❤️" like its a good thing. She doesn't want to go outside or play with toys if there's a phone. She'll reach for it. I just don't think that's healthy.

I don't think toddlers and young kids need to be on phones or tablets period. People use them as baby sitters and its sickening.

Just because she posts "always on the phone" on Facebook, doesn't mean the baby is always on the phone. I post "always so smiley" but I can tell you my son is NOT  always smiling.

I don't judge parents. My son loves my phone (he's 6 months) and will find a TV or screen wherever we are. Technology is their future. Sure kids should be out playing, and limiting screen time is a good idea. But it's not my kid, not my problem.

Parents are just trying to get through each day with a little sanity. If it takes letting a toddler play with a phone to keep tantrums at bay, you better believe I'd let my child play on a phone.

When I have kids I'll let them play games on my phone like I did (my dad used to let me play the snake game on his blackberry when I was little). But only for short periods of time. When they get older they can have electronics and phones (but like my parents did for me- they get a phone when they need one not when they want one). But I want my kids outside and socializing. They're not going to be addicted to cell phones at age 3! If they feel like they have no toys or games and that's why they need a phone well I'll just give them a board game or book. Kids don't need cell phones to stay entertained.

I don't have a issue with children and teens playing games for a short amount of time daily, and some people can't afford consoles so phones have to do if at all. Some games can teach and even the ones not directed at that goal can still develop coordination and critical thinking skills.

Now, mindlessly browsing or chatting for hours when they're capable of being productive or imaginative? Let's save that for when you're a adult who has more to do and less energy to do it 😉
