Anyone else's doctor turn you down for the anatomy scan?

The 3D/4D anatomy scan at a special non medical clinic requires your doctor to give you a letter saying they are aware you're doing the scan and you are indeed under prenatal care...just about everyone I know has done the scan to find out the gender early at 16 weeks... I asked my doctor about it and she told me NO she wouldn't send the approval because it isn't medically necessary and I should wait longer anyways. ...I'm quite confused considering at least 20 people I know have done it without problem!??

I'm confused by your question, do they require the approval to do all ultrasounds or are you trying to get your insurance to cover it? I've never heard of a 3rd party ultrasound requiring such a letter. I can understand if you're asking for an approval for your insurance to cover the cost, but if they require it to do all ultrasounds, that's just stupid....not sure how they can afford to stay in business this way.

I was not denied however, both my obgyn office and my perinatal office have big notes on front door saying they do not offer 3d/4d ultrasounds unless medically necessary.
So I would say it's standard not to..especially that early. .
I'm 25 weeks. I HAD my 3d one at my obgyn office at my 22 weeks anatomy scan visit. I'm having my 4d ultrasound at my next visit 26 weeks,  along with my glucose test.
However, I never asked for either one-both were offered to me by my obgyn and both were done AT my obgyn office.
They will do urs too..but at 16 weeks is way too early anyway. .the later u get them,  the nicer they are..

In 20 weeks and don't get my anatomy scan done until 23 weeks

The place where I got my elective scan done to find out the baby's sex early took my sonogram picture at 12 weeks as enough proof that I was receiving prenatal care. Call the place and see if that's enough for you to be seen.
