Crib Bumpers, yes or no?

Just wanted to get everyone's opinions on bumpers in the crib.  I know some are completely against it due to the suffocation factor.  But I had bumpers in my crib when I was a baby, I know some of my friends have them in their babies cribs.  What's your opinion?

Today's bumpers are way different than bumpers in our day. Ours used to be super soft and moveable so we had no worries but today's bumpers not only firm but tighter and don't move as easy. In some states they are illegal or banned from use due to high risk of SIDS or suffocation

In 2011, I delivered my son and his pediatrian stated that bumper pads can cause suffocation and to not use it in his crib. I bought a crib in a bag set and didnt use bumper on inside. I put the bumper pad on the outside for decoration.  Some people use the mesh bumpers as well. Good luck mama!

No don't use them. They increase the risk of SIDS. In the UK we are advised not to use them by the nhs.

You can get mesh thin ones now that are breathable but keep the babies limbs out of the bars

No bumper. I wouldn't even use mesh. They move and get bunched up and it's just not worth the risk.  When your baby is closer to one and is getting limbs stuck, maybe, but it's really not worth the risks.

I would never risk it, it is my baby's life after all and that will always come before her cot looking cute. With out first we got the mesh one that stops their limbs getting caught in between the bars.

I had them with my first son, and tried not to use them with my second son however he kept hitting his head and getting his foot between the bars. He kept waking up with marks on his head and face so I eventually just used them. I had a video monitor so I felt safe using them. They make mesh bumpers to ease the blow of hitting the side of the crib and they are breathable.
