Echogenic focus (EIG)

Megan
Yesterday at my 20 week anatomy scan, the tech found a bright spot on the baby's heart, known as an echogenic focus. It doesn't cause any heart issues but has been known to be a soft marker for Down's syndrome. Naturally I panicked but my doc really downplayed it and said since it's the only marker it's not anything to be worried about and is fairly common. She said she wasn't even going to mention it but the tech had already said something. She ended up referring me to a specialist to do another ultrasound next week to go over everything again and double check for any additional markers but she said she's only ordering the follow up because I was so freaked out. Has anyone else experienced this??
