Do any of you ladies feel that giving your SO head while in a relationship has anything to do with having a lack of self respect? My mother seems to think so. She has shamed me for it and other sexual acts more than a few times. Please share your thoughts on this.

Haha but really.. I enjoy giving head to the person I am in a relationship with and love. I enjoy being able to give them so much pleasure and express to them how much I want to give them that pleasure. It can be a really beautiful thing, oral sex. It's like you lean back, don't do a thing, let me take care of you....

But so many men use it as just another way to have power of the woman. Only give yourself to those who appreciate you and value you. Every man I've ever given head to has returned the favor, lovingly touched my body and told me how lucky they are to have me. If a man ever treated me in another way I would walk away immediately. Sex should never allow one person to have power over the other. It's an act of giving and receiving and equality.

Self respect is more about what you value as a person, not what others think is respectable. You can do anything with your body that you're okay with and you'd still be respecting yourself. Sex doesn't determine whether someone has self respect. Your mom may just be "old-fashioned" so she's fallen for society's influence that women can't embrace their sexuality or else they're "sluts," or they "don't respect themselves." I'd have a talk with her about her less-than-internalized sexism and make sure she knows that you respect yourself, NOT society's beliefs on what women should do with their bodies.
