Road trip or not?

Question

My husband has a work trip for four days coming up. He invited me to come so we don't have to be apart. Our new son will be a little over 3 months by then.

This will be around a 6 hour road trip, however my baby literally HATES his car seat. It's 50/50 on whether or not he freaks out. Some times he sleeps. Other times just screams bloody murder lol.

Is it worth it? The stress of stopping all the time and nursing and the screaming? We will get to be together once we get there which is nice, but I'm conflicted.

Do you sit in the back with the baby or up front? H and I told a road trip when LO was 2 months old for her to meeting 3 dying greatgrandmas. It was long but we made it (a week in each location) but it was a long drive.

I found sitting in the back, putting on white noise, and using a pacifier helped. She loved having my hand touching her. So you don't have to stop a lot, could you pump?

My baby also hated her carseat and always cried in the car but at 2 months we decided to take a road trip. At first I regretted it cause she spit up and it took about an hour to finally get going on the road but I sat in the back seat with her and held her hand. After 20 minutes she fell asleep and stayed asleep for 2+ hours. Our road trip was 3 hours so when we got to our destination I fed her and she was happy. I'd say take a break around 3 hours, feed and then keep going. We went on a second longer trip a week ago and she was great, I'm sure it'll go good.

I did a five hour drive with my son when he was four months old. We had to stop a lot. But it was an adventure we remember fondly.
