Should I try to go to an adults only wedding when my baby is a month old?

Hi, I'm a FTM and I was invited to an adults only wedding/reception that will take place when my baby is a month old. The wedding is about 2 hours away and in an event center, not a hotel. It's for good friends and I would love to go, but I'm not sure I could handle being away from the baby that long - 4 hour drive/wedding plus reception. Any mothers have insight as to how you would feel about being away from your month old baby for that long?

It's up to you! I would go. You need you time and if baby is with someone who is close to you, it will be ok. I'm going to a music festival for one day with the BF and my baby will be a month old. It's just an all day event and will be coming home late at night. She will be with my BF mom and she's like a mom to me and I trust her and know she will send pictures and keep us relaxed becuase it isn't easy to leave baby but I know as a mom of two now, we need couple time as well as family time. You need to find a balance. Whatever you are comfortable with. Baby will always know who mommy is and with my first that was always my fear, if I left her too early. I have so many family who want to help with baby and this time I'm definitely taking advantage.

I wouldn't. My child won't be left at all until she's 4 months old and I go back to school she even comes to work wih me and she won't be left besides school until she is 18-24months 😒 don't leave the baby my daughter is a month old and I couldn't imagine leaving her.

Whatever you are comfortable with. Feel it out. I wasn't ready to leave my baby with anyone but he was less than 2 weeks old when I was back in the hospital with an infection in my blood so he was with my husband and my grandmother or my parents. It was hard on me but now I feel it'll be easier for me to leave him with family for a date night or something!

We have the same dilemma and our boy will be 2.5 months old. We decided that we can't do it so only going to the ceremony. It sucks but my boy eats so often right now and we have not introduced bottles yet. FTM so I can't swing it!

We are leaving my little one (he'll be 5-6 weeks old) with my mother in law so we can go somewhere for several hours. I think it just depends on what you're comfortable with. I think it's easier for me because we get along well and I am very comfortable leaving him with her. I know my mother in law will do exactly what we would like her to do with him (she's not one who will do something if we ask her not to.)

Totally up to you, but baby will survive just fine without you and your sitter (preferably close friend or family so you can relax a little) can call you and send you regular pic updates of what they're doing or of baby sleeping.

As much as it might bother you, just remember that you need time to be you still. Sometimes us mom's can get caught up in being mommy that we forget to take care of us. If we forget about us and not make time for us, then we aren't as efficient mommies. Just my. 02

Do what you feel comfortable with, don't push yourself. While I agree, one does need "mommy time" it doesn't have to be so soon after birth. And a 2hr drive away would definitly make me anxious! I'm sure your friends will miss you, but if they're good friends they won't be upset.

My fiance's brother got married a month after our son was born, and as difficult as it was to leave my baby with someone else, I did it...and in the end, I actually had a fun night and survived being away from him for a day.

I'm a first time mom, too, so I definitely know how you feel. Yes it was very difficult to leave my baby boy for the day. I was a nervous wreck, but I hid it very well. I left him with my brother and sister-in-law, who have two little ones of their own, so I knew my little man was in good hands. My sister-in-law sent me updates and photos of my baby every couple of hours just to help me feel a bit more relaxed about being away from him. It really did help. Also, that week leading up to the wedding, I would bring my baby to my sister-in-law's house, and she would have me leave him with her while I drove around the block a few times to help me with some of my anxiety of leaving him. After we did that for a few days, she then had me leave him with her and sent me to the store to pick something up for her. That task took me about an hour. Doing this also helped with my anxiety.

If you are considering going, I would definitely recommend trying this out too. But like someone else said, you need to do what you feel most comfortable with. If you're not ready, don't worry about it. You need to do it on your own time when you feel comfortable. Since the wedding, I've only left him one other time, which was so that my fiancé and I could have a much needed date night. And even that second time I left him, I still had some anxiety.
