Can you tell me the process you went through like the effects of the drugs and how it affected your labor

I was induced at 37 weeks for IUGR and a small baby. They started me on cryotec(or whatever it's called) which needs to sit in my cervix for 4 hours, then they tested for dilation. After that it was about 2 pm. They decided to break my water before giving me any pitocin or anything like that. I opted for the epidural before breaking the water even though I was already 5 cm and hadn't felt a thing by that point! So epidural, then they broke my water which doesn't hurt at all. After that, everything went really quickly. I didn't need pitocin at all, that baby wanted to come out at that point! He was born at 9:11 pm after twenty minutes of pushing. My best advice for an induction is to keep your body relaxed. It's so hard, knowing what's happening, but it makes everything go easier and quicker. The epidural helped too but just keep changing positions. Lying on your side really helps actually. Good luck!!!

I was induced at 39 weeks for severe pre-e.  They started with cervidil to help dilate the cervix.. I had three doses of it. I had to lay in bed for 3 hours after each dose, only getting up for minimal pee breaks when necessary.  It wasn't painful or anything.  After that, they started me on pitocin to induce contractions/labor.  That stuff is very painful as they turn the dose up!  Do not be afraid to get the epidural whenever you're ready- pitocin contractions are much worse than regular labor pains (according to my L&D nurses).  I tried to wait until I was more dilated to get it & looking back, it wasn't the smartest call.  Just ask for it whenever you're ready!
I was also on a magnesium drip the entire time to prevent seizures from the severe pre-e, but if yours is mild you'll probably get to skip it.  Good luck!!
