I tried giving my son Di-vi-sol but it contains Carmel coloring and gave my son the worst gas and tummy ache. And it's a ton of medicine. I bought organic vitamin D but was reading online that you only need to supplement if your at risk for rickets. That's if you breastfeed, never go outside, and have dark skin. I haven't been giving it to him and my pediatrician doesn't think it's detrimental. Just take them outside and get sun!

I prefer to take them out in the sun and supplement myself. A breastfeeding mother can take 6500 IU a day and it is enough for your baby to get what they need.

We were told to give vitamin D drops and given some bottles of a different brand. Our pediatrician said to just try to give them more days than not.

My midwife has told me as long as we get outside for some sunlight everyday we don't need to supplement.
