To tell or not to tell?

I posted a while ago about not wanting anyone at the birth center while I'm in labor except my husband and my mom. It took some convincing, but my husband agreed with me. Now I don't know whether I need to tell his parents that we won't be calling them until he is born or just go ahead with my plan with no notice. What should we do?

You don't need to run anything by anyone. Perhaps if they bring it up and ask for details, just say you don't want anyone there and you will let everyone know once the baby arrives. It is no ones decision but yours and honestly none of their business. Their grandchild will be here happy and healthy and that should be what they focus on. But if no one brings it up, just keep it to yourself. No use in offending or upsetting anyone for no reason

Your birth, your wishes. But what's so wrong with callin them to let them know you're on your way to the birthing center? They don't have to be physically there with you but a phone call to let them know their grand baby will arrive soon would be courteous

Our parents both knew ahead of time but mainly bc my parents needed to drive 10 1/2 hours so they weren't going to be there till after baby was born and my FIL was out of town on work (wouldn't be able to leave work) MIL had to watch our older daughter (15 months at the time) so she would be coming until after my parents stopped in at the hospital then switched baby sitting shifts lol. It will probably be a similar situation this time but if if my parents will come right away but my in laws will come with our kids probably when we call and give them an okay.

I think it depends on how they are. If you know that they tend to cause drama or raise issues just because they may disagree and won't be respectful about it then don't give them any notice and go with what you've planned and when the baby comes and they ask why u didn't tell them till after say it was so quick or we had already made a plan as to how we wanted it. Be a broken record and give them no excuses. Or if you know that they won't cause a stir and may simply voice those concerns but allow it then tell them and your good to go. Congrats and hope it goes well when the time comes.
