Send you home?

So I'm 34+ weeks with my second. I have a c section scheduled for 39 weeks (August 8th). However my doctor told me yesterday he wouldn't be surprised if she came early.

My question is....
I keep hearing that the hospital will send you home if you're not dilated enough. Is that still the case if you know you have to have a C-section?

That happened to me! I started having contractions on May 13th. My c section was scheduled for the 16th. The 14th the contractions were 5 mins apart and painful. I went in and they sent me home because I wasn't dilated. Had a horrible night of contractions and all day the next day until I said screw this the contractions are worse! Went in again and at that point I was 4cm. They decided to do the c section then.

Answer

Yes. Until you are in active labor (4+ cms with progress) they will send you home. They will not do the C-section before 39 weeks unless there is a medical issue or full blown labor. I had my third son at 37 weeks. My water broke and I was hoping for a VBAC, but he had flipped and was butt down. We did the C-section because my water broke. Before my water broke I had contractions for weeks.
