Baby helmet?

After our 2 month checkup we found out our baby girls head is in the 97th percentile and she favors looking one way over the other. Our pediatrician recommended some stretches and to keep an eye on the shape of her head and a helmet might be in order. Has anyone else gotten similar news? How are you coping? We do the stretches but she hates it...trying to persevere so we don't need that helmet 😱

We were told the same thing, but we were also told that neurosurgery may be our other option. So I starter laying my son on his other side as much as possible, even when he sleeps because he's a side sleeper. Well low and behold within a couple of weeks the problem righted itself, for the most part. We still have a little ways to go, but with patience my son will be perfect in no time. So no worries, just do the side laying thing for a while, don't forget your baby's head is super soft and still growing, you can alter the shape as needed, and it's best to do that now before a neurosurgeon is needed and it becomes a much bigger deal than just a helmet.

We went to a repositioning class at our local children's hospital. They really emphasized on doing side lies (placing baby on their non flat side with a rolled up blanket behind their back) to help shift the skull back. They said to do it 3-4 times a day for 5-10 mins at a time. This is along with tummy time of course.

My sons head was getting flat on his left because he favored looking that way. Dr said at 2 month appointment just to make his right side a more interesting world, turn his bassinet around, hold him in other arm, etc. it is working. He even is rolling to his right to sleep now.

My daughter (1st baby) had a pretty flat head.  At about 3 months I really hounded doc about it (he said it'd autocorrect) but he had me reach out to Physical therapist. I went once a week for about two months and she really worked to stretch her out and work her muscle in the way she wasn't turning.

My daughter has a beautiful round head now w no helmet :)

I just had my sons 2 month apt and received the same news. His pediatrician referred me to a specialist so I can make changes to improve the situation sooner than later. I am good about tummy time, holding him and having his head the other way when awake but not much I can do when he's asleep. I'm worried about it too.

I know some people don't think chiropractors are real doctors. But my best friend is a chiro and has worked on my son some when he favored one side and showed me how to help stretch and he has no problems now. You have to think of how much the baby goes through whether it's a c-section or vaginal birth. Do some research (because some chiro's are unfortunately quacks) and try that before a helmet.

My baby boy favors one side but he doesn't need the stretches. His head is getting flat on that side and we try to keep him upright but I'm afraid it isn't enough. We will find out at his next appointment if he needs the helmet.
