Hysterosalpingogram?

Question

Anyone had one of these? Caths scare me did it hurt much? Did it make it harder to pee afterwards? I'll see the dr. Thursday for him to officially read my blood test results but the hospital sent them to me already and they all fell in normal ranges.

​So I'm thinking this or a similar test might be next for me to check my tubes. Also heard this can sometimes make it easier to get pregnant. It clears, opens/widens and straightens the tubes making it easier for sperm to reach their goal.

I recently had one- was terrified of the results but it was a huge relief knowing all my equipment was in order :). They told me right on the spot.  Whole thing took about 20 min between getting dressed, explaining the procedure then actually doing it. I thought it was very uncomfortable but not too painful.  I bled afterwards for a few hours and now in my tww to see if it "primed my uterus" for conception! :).

I had mine about 3 wks ago, one week before fertile period and bam, BFP!  It's uncomfortable bc it's like getting a pelvic on top of a radiology table and the radiologist sticks a catheter into your cervix and then injects dye.  There's major cramping for about 20 seconds but I took that as a good sign bc both sides were open!  No need to worry about urinary symptoms bc they don't touch your urethra.  I think you are thought to be more fertile after for a few months bc the tubes are more open!  Oil based dye is supposed to make you very fertile but apparently has fallen out of vogue with radiologists.  I asked and they still gave me the water based one.  GL Glenda!

I have to have this done also. How long does it typically take? And do you get the results that day or does it take awhile??

It is a cramping feeling you get.. Not to bad some pain meds prior can help.. The positive side is BFP is more likely after this. I had one done in November and December I was pregnant. Had an ectopic pregnancy though due to my left tube which we knew that it wasn't good on that side. They will tell you the results right there and than you can see it as well ;)

Yeah it's not bad. Pain relief is important though so make sure you have some 30-60 mins beforehand. I bled a bit and actually they couldn't get the catheter through my cervix so I had to have surgery but it's fine.

Mine did hurt. But nothing unmanageable. Just cramping and discomfort. Advil is a good idea. Best of luck!!!

I just had one. It didn't hurt during- best to take 3 Advil before hand. When dye goes into the cervix I had some light cramping. It was quick. When you are done they give u a pad to wear bc the iodine leaks out a little bit. All in all very easy and not stressful.
