Switching Formula Advice?

Looking for any experience on trying different formulas. We're exclusively on Enfamil (ready made liquid) but my 7 week old looks so uncomfortable at points during his feed, I'm kinda wanting to try something else. Digestion-wise, everything seems to be passing through okay and he rarely seems gassy to the point of discomfort so I've been hesitant to really mess with his system, but he's a grunting, straining, animated mess 1.5-2 ounces into every feed.

Do I just make a cold turkey switch to something else or should I try easing him into another formula? I have his 2 month appointment on Monday and will be discussing with his pediatrician then but would like to see if it's an issue with the formula before then. Would love to hear if anyone has experience with this!

This is my son exactly!! He is 7 weeks and about 2 weeks ago he started fussing during feedings. Turns out he has a milk protein sensitivity. I've tried 4 different formulas and so far similac sensitive has been the one that hasn't caused trouble during feedings since the protein has been broken down its easier for them to digest.

When LO was in NICU he was on Similac but we soon realized he was super gassy and would grunt a lot during his sleep. My pediatrician told me to try Enfamil newborn and he said it was fine to switch right away no 50/50. Enfamil newborn was too strong for my LO so we switched to Enfamil Gentlease also without doing 50/50 and he is finally ok. (Only side effect is his poop is realllyyy stinky.) We've used both liquid and powder and we notice that the powder sits better. The liquid is darker in color and my LO makes funny faces when drinking it not to mention he grunts again when he has ready made liquid formula.

Another note, I mix my formula with part warm water and part room temperature water. LO is less gassy when I make his formula this way instead of a bottle at full room temperature.

Yeah...my LO is picky. LOL
