How well does my birth control work?

I just started the depo shot recently and I don't know how protective it is.  I was previously on the pills, but never had sex without a condom while on them. Is there really any chance of me getting pregnant while getting the depo shot?

I was on the depo shot for 5 years and didn't have a pregnancy scare. I waited for a month before having unprotected sex and from then on my husband always ejaculated in me. We stopped the birth control July 2014 and I got pregnant with our daughter August 2015, so just be sure you aren't planning on having kids right after stopping the birth control. But for me it was very effective and the only side effect I had was weight gain, which I think is the worst one lol, I'm actually going to try Paragaurd during my next cycle since it is an IUD and is good for 12 years plus no hormones.

If on certain antibiotics, it may integer. Also after a year of use after depo, it stopped my periods altogether. From bedsider.off and planned parenthood.org :)

Depending on your body and how it processes the birth control. I'm on depo and haven't even had a pregnancy scare, while a friend of mine was on depo and wound up pregnant and miscarried. Her body just processed the hormone faster than normal.

The depo shot is effective since it gets  injected . I was on it for a year and a month. And luckily i didn't get pregnant. But now I'm on the pill because my periods were irregular it lasted about a month
