Recommended Birth Control?

I'm getting married soon.. Eek! 😍 I was wondering what you lovely ladies recommend for birth control. Effectiveness is most important.. No kids! Second factor would be pain.. I'm very interested in the arm implant method but I'm scared to death of it. 🙈 thanks ladies!

Just be careful because your body may tolerate hormonal birth control well or completely freak out and cause you to gain 20 pounds in a year. I would just recommend condoms. I was on hormonal bc for 7 years and am much happier without it. My husband and I use condoms.

IUD and arm implant. I tried to get an IUD, and it hurt so bad when they tried to put it in that I passed out, so I couldn't get it. But I have the Nexplanon arm implant and I love it. Whatever you get, get it like 6 months before the wedding if you can. Just so by that time your body will be used to the changes and you won't feel crummy. And congrats!!

The implant is most effective. The only problem I've had with it is moodiness but EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. It doesn't hurt to get it in either. The only pinch is from the needle to numb you. It'll be over in like 2 minutes literally.

Hormones can really mess you up, so I would recommend trying to avoid them unless you have a good reason for resorting to hormonal BC (like not being able to reliably use FAM or a barrier method or having a medical condition that BC helps with). I use a diaphragm all of the time, but I also track when I'm fertile and use a condom/ have my husband pull out those days to be extra safe. It might seem complicated but I'd rather do this and have to take these precautions when I have sex than have hormonal BC mess with my body all the time.

I would recommend the inplant. I have my tubes tied and you may want children so I can't recommend that, but the implant was pretty effective for me. The depo made me gain a lot of weight

Are you and your fiancé wanting kids eventually or not at all? I used the patch for about 15 years and never had any issue and it's easy to reverse. If you and your fiancé never want kids it might make sense for him to get a vasectomy, it's a quick outpatient procedure, it's also reversible if you ever change your minds.
