So my boyfriend and I stopped having sex for a bit because we were only using condoms and had a scare when my period came two weeks late. At that point we decided to wait until we had double protection (condoms and pill) to have sex again. Recently we have just started talking about it and we both want to start having sex again but I'm not able to get the pill just yet as I'm being moved around from house to house. 

How safe are condoms and shoukd I rely on them?? I was always told they are only 60% effective
