Ok cupid love? Long distance relationship?

Hi, so I am 18 and signed up for ok upid an online dating site since I havent had much luck with guys where I live and I just dont find most of the attractive. A guy on this site, who is 19 from the usa which is pretty much on the other side of the worl started talking to me and I really clicked with him and feel comfortable. He already said how our children would be so cute and how he would take care of me and I do want this with him.

My question is has this ever happened to you and did it lead somewhere? And also do long distance relationships really work?
