What is #BlackLivesMatter about? Black people being killed...

Just want to get some numbers on how people view the movement. The problem may be that some are just uneducated on what it's meant to be about.

Black lives matter is mostly police brutality. Not just for black people. All people.

When the white kid was killed by a police officer BlackLivesMatter was there to protest.

It's a movement for everyone.

It's a movement where black people put their feet down and stand up for themselves and their place in our society. It's not specifically about how they are being killed or police brutality, but actually how they are viewed, convicted, and accused for any demise.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it stems from police brutality. It's all about letting EVERYONE know that black lives matter, or rather, reminding everyone of that. Because the issues with police are the ones that happen so often and when a member of the black community is killed or faces an injustice of some kind, it is kind of just swept under the rug and not made out to be as big of a deal as white crimes are. You know what I mean? I'd really appreciate some feedback as well in case I've got it all wrong lol

I just want to put out there that just because black lives matter is brining awareness to one race doesn't mean all races and lives don't matter...racism is real in this country and yes there are racist of all colors but the racism and violence against black lives is an epedemic right now!

There is a huge misconception about Black Lives Matter! When we say Black Lives Matter, we are broadening the conversation around state violence to include all of the ways in which Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state.  We are talking about the ways in which Black lives are deprived of our basic human rights and dignity. This movement is not about putting down other races. We are simply saying that we matter too! Yes, all lives matter but the difference in our skin tones puts us in different situations. We just want to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and justice system.
