I'm pregnant, now what happens?

I'm pregnant and the first thing MY HUSBAND says says is "congrats" follow by we shouldn't be too happy you can have a miscarriages. This is my FIRST pregnancy and I wanted this to be a happy moment and now I can't stop crying because now I'm scared that I may be losing this baby. I go the 15th to confirm it. But what happiness is that when te man you created this blessing with doesn't seem happy. Is this something common in somean to be scared first and sometimes say the wrong things?

My husband is usually kind of shocked when he first finds out and then once we see the baby on the ultrasound he always falls madly in love. Men still just see their wife or girlfriend they can't feel or what's going on like you can. So when they see it or feel it such as the baby kicking it really helps strengthen the realness of a baby.

You know how people say they don't want to get hurt, that's a man. They can't emotionally handle what we can and that's why it takes them a little longer to get invested.

Don't feel discouraged. I don't think he meant that trying to make you feel down. Remember men are logical creatures and women are emotional. You both were expressing yourselves in those ways and sure he came across a little negative but I'm sure he didn't mean it that way.

It took my SO a while to get used to it. Now he's getting excited bc were finding out the gender soon

My hubby was scared I took a test every day till my appt. maybe that would help him

Actually, that statistic is false--50% of all first pregnancies end in miscarriage. The rate is higher if you have PCOS, like myself. That being said, you stillhave every right to expect this pregnancy to progress normally--nothing abnormal has occurred yet. Keep telling yourself "Today, I am pregnant, and I love my baby." That's really all you can do--whatever will be will be. Worrying won't make your pregnancy last longer but it will rob you of your joy. Also, men don't always "get" pregnancy and are not usually as excited as the expecting Mama--tell him he made you upset and ask him to be nicer going forward. GL and congrats.

Wait, you said he's a man, right?  Well, that explains. My husband had the very same reaction on my first pregnancy. Just don't take it personal, men don't know how to handle words and feelings.

Sometimes people's first reaction is fear, once it's confirmed he'll probably feel more at ease. For now, be sure to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, eat healthy, and exercise. Making sure to take care of yourself during this time, is also taking care of your little one. Congrats to you and your husband on your first pregnancy and best of luck.

My SO was the same he kept saying not to get our hopes up etc now he is different and involved, excited etc our 1st scan changed my SO x
