Trying to plan future

Hello all, my significant other and I have been seeing each other for almost three years. We have always had a close relationship since we were young. The relationship is starting to evolve. We have not discussed any form of birth control or any desire to conceive. How would you bring up the topic of plans in case we encounter conception. He and I say we want a life together but we haven't discussed the specifics
