Cord blood banking

Courtney • Blessed with a rainbow on 11/27/15 💕🎀

Have you girls thought about it or looked into it at all? I know it is pretty dang expensive but I wonder if it would be worth it.

I have been doing some research and it is so interesting how the cord blood stem cells are more versatile in treating diseases then stem cells you would find in bone marrow.

My dad has Parkinson's Disease and they don't quite have the research to use stem cells for this disease but they are currently working on it and if the blood can be banked for 20+ years, I wonder if they will have it completed by then. Not to mention all of the other diseases that can be combated with these cells. I am trying to figure out if it is worth the money and exactly how to go about banking it. What are your ladies thoughts?

From what I have read it is beneficial is you already have a child with a disease it can treat but not so much otherwise. But in your case it may be worth it, who knows the advances they will have in medicine in the future! I want to donate ours but my hubby's against it because he doesn't want it used in cloning and weird controversial things. But I think as long as we sign it will only go towards helping people I need to do some more research.

i need to do more research too but I don't blame your hubby. I wouldn't want it to go to things like that either. I think I will have my dad ask his neurologist to see if he thinks it could be beneficial in the future. If not, I will probably nix the idea.
