My birth story

Brooke
I have been debating on wether to post or not but figured why not share my story.
I had a due date of July 1 and we really wanted our baby girl here by then because I have a step son and that was our time with him and if she wasn't here by then he would have to wait two weeks to meet her and we didn't want that. At every appointment from 36 weeks on they checked me for dilation and I was at 3cm from then until week 40 I finally hit 4cm.
I went to my 40 week appointment which was the day before my due date and the OB gave me an option to be induced since I was already dilating and this was my second child so I went for it and they induced me on my due date at 7:00 that morning. The midwife that we had once we were there gave me an option of pitocin or another medicine that is a pill they out in your vagina to help induce labor with my first I didn't have a good time with pitocin so I chose the pill. She started the first dose at about 9:30 or so and said it could take a while to work and it did I say for 6 hours with some contractions that I won't really feeling and that's it. At 3:30 she came and gave me my second dose of the pill and broke my water and I was 6cm dilated. Not even 30 minutes later and the contractions came hard and fast and I was so relieved something was going on. At about 4:30 I got the epidural because I couldn't stand the pain anymore and won't sure how long it would be until I gave birth. Not long after the finished my epidural and it got to working good I felt the pressure to push. I pushed for 8 minutes and our baby girl was born at 5:30 pm and weighed 9 pounds and 8.9 ounces and was 21 inches long.
When she was born her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck so when she came out she was blue and wasn't crying. I missed out on my hour of skin to skin because they had to give her some oxygen clean out her throat because she swallowed some fluid and get her to cry and gain some color. She also broke her collar bone on the way out because it got stuck on my pelvic bone.
All in all it was a fast delivery but very scary at the end but she is now a week old and totally worth everything that happened and I'm glad she is healthy.
