Healthy Breakfast Options?
I'm looking for healthy breakfast options that cut down on carbs (low cholesterol would also be a plus). My issue is that I need something I can eat fast, either in the car on the way to work or at work once I get there, that doesn't require much preparation and isn't pure carbs and sugar. I know people usually say smoothies/yogurt, but the majority of the time that stuff is as full of sugar and as unhealthy as a bowl of sugary cereal (especially yogurts, even ones that are marketed as healthy choices). I also know people that do veggie smoothies with V-8, etc., but that's not an option since I have a severe food allergy to carrots, and pretty much anything "veggie" related has carrots in it in some form (you'd actually be surprised how many things have carrots and don't say so on the label...). My husband's green tea "health" smoothies turn my stomach, and when you look at the label they're still not nearly as healthy as their advertising would lead you to believe. I just can't think of something appetizing that isn't filled with carbs. I'd be fine with a meal replacement shake or something like that, but a lot of those either make you put on weight (which I want to avoid, as I have a thyroid condition) or taste terrible. If anyone has recommendations, please let me know! I'm not willing to pour a bunch of money into it, though, so overpriced meal-replacement "plans" are not what I'm looking for. Any ideas would be appreciated!
